Deck Chairs

Childs Deckchair

When your child wants a deckchair more fitting to their age, the older brother (or sister) of the toddler deckchair is our child’s deckchair.

Not quite as large as the standard deckchair, but bigger than the toddler’s chair, the child’s deckchair is suitable for children between 6 and 11 years of age.    A perfect place to rest up after hard day’s play on the DS.

The chair comes with a securing bolt that holds the chair together and prevents it collapsing (although self respecting 10 year old needs one, it does keep Mum happy).

Each chair is unique and comes with our recycled sailcloth seat.  A variety of styles is available or why not go for a ‘family theme’ and have three deckchairs styled for your family.

As with their grown up cousins the childs deckchair is from Southsea Deckchairs and has the same environmental credentials and is built to last.

Made on the Isle of Wight each chair seat is made from upcycled sails.

We offer three choices of style, namely:

  • Wightsails own brand of diagonal colour and white.  Like our windbreaks, half the chair is colour and half is white, divided along the vertical diagonal.
  • Bright.   More of a random selection of colours set out in a striking formation.
  • White.  Will have numbers where possible and highlighted features from the sail, such as stitching, lines, strengthening etc.
    • Width: 440mm
    • Height: 680mm
    • Depth: 780mm
    • Seat Height: 280mm

As always, each deckchair will be unique.

    • Cover is hand made on the Isle of Wight
    • Three choices of design
    • Easy to clean and light
    • Deckchair made from durable material,
    • Environmentally friendly and will last a lifetime (see more below)

    Toddlers Deckchair

Ahhhh, we all said when we made our first toddler’s deckchair.

A very junior version of our standard deckchairs, the toddler’s deckchair is suitable for children between 3 and 5 years of age.    It is fun and what better way to relax on the patio or the beach after a long day’s playing than putting your feet up….. now where is that milkshake I ordered?!

The chair comes with a securing bolt that holds the chair together and prevents it collapsing (adults don’t need bolts apparently!).

Each chair is unique and comes with our recycled sailcloth seat.  A variety of styles is available or why not go for a ‘family theme’ and have three or more deckchairs styled for your family.

As with their grown up cousins the toddlers deckchair is from Southsea Deckchairs and has the same environmental credentials and is built to last.

Made on the Isle of Wight each chair seat is made from upcycled sails.

    Sailcloth Stool

Our recycled sailcloth stool is ideal for a whole host of activities, such as:  fishing, camping, watching horse racing, polo, golf and a number of other sporting events.

These sturdy stools can also be used in garden, at the beach or just around the house.   We haven’t tried this yet, but they look like they could make a good guitar playing seat.

These seats would also be great for the Glyndebourne Festival or other such musical events, where sitting on the floor can be cold with a limited view and a canvas fold up just doesn’t cut it.

Incredibly comfortable, the sailcloth seat is hard wearing yet soft and provides a nice feel.  The chair folds in and out easily and could not be simpler to use, just plonk it down and sit on it.

As always, each chair will be unique.   The cover will be made from white recycled sailcloth and we will cut through numbers and other features on the sail to provide an effect similar to the photographs you see on the left.   If you would like a coloured seat please just ask us and we will see how we can help.

    Features include:

    • Cover is hand made on the Isle of Wight
    • Easy to clean and light
    • Stool made from durable material,
    • Environmentally friendly and will last a lifetime (see more below)
    • FREE postage and packing

    Our stool measures:

    • Width: 44.5 cm
    • Height: 48 cm
    • Depth: 46 cm
    • Comfort:  100%

Our chairs and stools are solid! Not like some you get from main stream providers which are spindly and designed to last the summer.  Our chairs will last a lifetime. Protection against the elements, strong and robust, durable and thus all good for the environment.

Deck Chairs made from recycled sailcloth

Lounge around in the summer  (or any time of the year) with our beautifully crafted deck chairs.

We have mentioned before that our products are retirement for sails and what better home for an old sail – staring out to sea watching the boats go by or sat in the garden watching the plants grow.

We have chosen our deck chairs with great thought to the environment and are pleased to be partnering with Southsea Deckchairs (just across the water from us).  More information about our chairs below.

Made on the Isle of Wight each chair is covered with recycled sail cloth.

    The environment

Our chairs are made from Merpauh.  This is what Southsea deckchairs say about the timber:  Merpauh is classified by the Timber Research and Development Association as a durable hardwood. They define durable as 15-25 years contact with the ground.

Durability is very important to our environment: frequent replacement of a deckchair is costly to our environment, not just in terms of tree felling (if used from a non-sustainable source) but all the other energy consumption involved in making and transporting a deckchair.

The Merpauh that we use is sourced from selectively logged MTCC certified forests. We are now working, with our supplier towards product certification by the MTCC  (www.mtcc.com.my). The principles and criteria of the MTCC are based on those of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC).
